How Can My Taxes Increase When My Property Hasn't Changed ?

There are several reasons taxes would increase. (1) When additional taxes are voted on by the majority of the people in the parish or district. (2) When the market values increase so does the assessed value of your property. (3) Any type of improvements you make to your existing property that would add value, such as a garage, or add an additional room. The Assessor has not created the value. People create value by their transactions in the market place. The Assessor simply has the responsibility to study those transactions and appraise your property accordingly.
